An 8-week guided program for photographers and visual storytellers.
Over eight weeks, we'll work together to develop documentary projects through editing, sharing of knowledge and conversation.
You'll receive assignments, feedback, resources, and access to the Studio's private hub.

Week One
Finding the Story / Revisiting the Existing Story
Whether beginning a new project or refining one already underway, we'll explore what stories to work on and how to recognize their possibilities.
Week Two
Research and Preparation
How do we learn about a place, a community, or an issue before making photographs? We'll discuss research, logistics, access, and preparing ourselves for the unexpected.
Week Three
Conversations on Trust and Ethics
Documentary work is built on relationships. We'll think about trust, collaboration, representation, and the responsibilities that come with telling other people's stories.
Week Four
Editing
How do we begin making sense of what we photograph? We'll explore image selection and identify strengths and weaknesses.
Week Five
Archive and Structure
We'll look at organizing work, building an archive, and finding patterns and connections that shape a narrative.
Week Six
Editing: Returning to the Work
After time and reflection, we'll revisit our projects with fresh eyes, refining selections and strengthening the visual narrative.
Week Seven
Sequencing and Toning
We'll think about pacing, rhythm, transitions, visual tone, and creating a coherent body of work.
Week Eight
Sharing the Work / Where Next?
How do we bring a project into the world? We'll discuss publication, exhibitions, grants, personal websites, books, and the development of a sustainable, long-term practice.
