7 Weeks of Storytelling

WELCOME TO THE STORYTELLING PROGRAM
This page is our shared workspace throughout the program. Here you'll find the weekly schedule, assignments, resources, Office Hour booking links, and any additional material we'll discuss during our time together.
EACH WEEK INCLUDES
• A live Monday session (approximately 2 hours, including discussion and Q&A)
• An individual Office Hour (30min)
• A practical assignment to continue developing your project
Assignments and image submissions should be uploaded to the Miro platform by Sunday evening, allowing time for review before the following week's Office Hours. During our first session I will share how we will collaborate on your story on Miro.
WEEK ONE
Monday Session: Finding the Story
Sept 28, 2026
19:00–21:00 CEST / 1:00–3:00 PM EDT
We will begin with organizational details and then dive into stories. Whether beginning a new project or refining one already underway, we'll explore what stories to work on and how to develop them further. We'll discuss putting the story into words, research, logistics, access, and preparing ourselves for the unexpected.
Office Hour
We'll identify the story you would like to develop during the program and discuss realistic goals for the coming weeks. This can be a new project or one that is already underway.
Assignment
Write a 200-word description of your project.
Studio Resources
After each Monday session, I'll add course material, examples we've discussed together, and additional resources for further exploration.
WEEK TWO
Monday Session: Trust, Ethics, and Beginning the Work
Oct 5, 2026
19:00–21:00 CEST / 1:00–3:00 PM EDT
Documentary work is built on relationships. We'll talk about trust, collaboration, representation, and the responsibilities that come with telling other people's stories.
Office Hour
We'll discuss practical ways of approaching your project and how to begin building meaningful connections with people and places that will become part of your story.
Assignment
Begin working on your story. Submit a selection of up to 30 images to Miro by Sunday evening.
Studio Resources
After each Monday session, I'll add course material, examples we've discussed together, and additional resources for further exploration.
WEEK THREE
Monday Session: Archive and Structure
Oct 12, 2026
19:00–21:00 CEST / 1:00–3:00 PM EDT
How do we organise a growing body of work? We'll discuss building an archive, uploading and organising photography in Adobe Lightroom Classic, and creating a structure for your story edits.
Office Hour
We'll review your submitted photographs on Miro, identifying strengths and discussing possible directions for further development.
Assignment
Continue working on your story and submit a new edit of up to 30 images by Sunday evening.

After each Monday session, I'll add course material, examples we've discussed together, and additional resources for further exploration.
WEEK FOUR
Monday Session: Group Editing of Participant Stories
Oct 19, 2026
19:00–21:00 CEST / 1:00–3:00 PM EDT
We'll explore image selection, editing possibilities, sequencing, and recognizing the story that is beginning to emerge for each participating photographer.
Office Hour
Together, we'll refine your edit, review the photographs you submitted the previous week, and discuss what may still be missing from the story.
Assignment
Continue photographing and editing your work, submitting an updated selection of up to 30 images, by Sunday evening.

WEEK FIVE
Monday Session: Sequencing and Toning
Oct 26, 2026
19:00–21:00 CET / 2:00–4:00 PM EDT
We'll explore pacing, rhythm, transitions, and the relationships between photographs as they begin to work together as a coherent body of work. We will also work on toning in Adobe Lightroom Classic and creating visual consistency across your story.
Office Hour
We'll review your latest photographs, bring them into the story, begin sequencing your project, and discuss the overall visual direction of the work.
Assignment
Review and reflect on the preliminary sequence of your story. Continue photographing and submit any additional work by Sunday evening.

WEEK SIX
Monday Session: Sharing the Work, Where Next?
Nov 2, 2026
19:00–21:00 CET / 1:00–3:00 PM EST
How do we bring a project into the world? We'll discuss publication, exhibitions, grants, books, and developing a sustainable long-term practice.
Office Hour
We'll review your additional photographs, finalise the sequence, prepare for the final presentation, and discuss realistic next steps for continuing the project beyond the Studio.
Assignment
Prepare a short presentation of your work.

WEEK SEVEN
Monday Session: Presentation and Reflection
Nov 9, 2026
19:00–21:00 CET / 1:00–3:00 PM EST
Participants present the projects they have developed throughout the program. We'll celebrate the work, reflect on the process, and discuss possible next steps for each story.
Office Hour
Final conversation, guidance on how to continue the career, answering any remaining questions.
Our time in the Studio comes to an end, but the story continues!
